This presentation will provide an in-depth discussion of the impacts of in-utero
drug and alcohol exposure. Specifically, we will discuss the prevalence, causes,
and diagnostic traits of FASD. We will identify the ways traits of FASD can present
in the school setting and explore specific strategies to support areas of
challenge. We will also discuss what we know about the impact of in-utero
exposure to marijuana, opioids, and suboxone/methadone. Finally, we will
review signs that might suggest a student’s functioning is impacted by the
effects of in-utero drug and alcohol exposure, and what to do if you suspect this.
